New Zealanders gather on Anzac Day to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the Gallipoli and other large scale conflicts, at the Wellington Cenotaph, on April 25, 2007. The yearly event occurs in the early morning hours to coincide with the time of the first casualties in the Gallipoli battle, in Turkey. Over the years, Anzac Day has seen attendance numbers rise, as kiwis see the remembrance at the core of national identity.
