Pyongyang citizens cheer while a tank parades along one of the city's long avenues, during the celebrations marking Kim il-Sung's 100th birthday, on April 15, 2012. According to Korea Institute of Defense Analyses (KIDA) North Korea is spending about a third of its national income on its military, a much larger amount than announced, as it builds its forces despite a struggling economy. The DPRK's military first is at the expense of its moribund closed economy. A number of years ago, North Korea embarked on a program of uranium enrichment, giving it a route to a nuclear bomb. North Korea is the most militarized country in the world today.
